Over 200 years after the witch hunts of Salem set aflame the imagination and superstitions of America's Northeastern states another such epidemic would sweep through the same area. In the 19th century a wave of paranoia swept through rural New England. Small communities became convinced that they were the victim of vampires and that these vampires were returning from the grave to feast upon their living loved ones. In this episode, Jen will take you through the medical, anthropologic and sociologic reasons that this community got caught up in the Vampire Panic.
